While in Boise, Rev. Tyrone became actively involved in the cause of human rights, working closely with the interfaith group Idaho Voices of Faith for Human Rights.  Rev. Sweeting was honored for this work at the UFMCC General Conference in Atlanta, receiving awards from both the Fellowship and the UFMCC Ministry of Social Justice  for his work to help defeat the infamous Proposition One, a heinous anti-gay/lesbian ballot initiative put forward by a group calling itself the Idaho Citizens Alliance. While in Idaho, Rev. Ty wrote featured religion columns for the statewide mainstream press, The Idaho Statesman, and the statewide alternative press paper, Diversity.

Tyrone was then called to serve Church of Our Savior MCC in October, 1996.  In May, 1997, he led that church to the purchase of a building, which now is their permanent home at 2011 South Federal Highway in Boynton Beach, Florida.  In January, 1999, under Rev. Tyrone's careful guidance, they began a television ministry on Comcast Cable in Palm Beach County, which ran for 2 years.

began pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Florida Center for Theological Studies  in Miami, a program he was able to continue working on at a distance, receiving his Doctor of Ministry degree in May, 2008.

Rev. Ty was called to The Rock MCC church in May, 2004, and served that church through 2006. Rev. Ty was then appointed by regional elders to serve as the intentional interim pastor of two congregations, Divine Peace MCC in Pontiac, MI,  and MCC of the Blue Ridge, in Roanoke, VA.   He was called to serve MCC of Topeka in February 2009. Since arriving in Topeka, he was been asked to serve as an official religion blogger for the Topeka Capital-Journal's online religion site, Holy Ground. Rev. Tyrone continues to be involved in many community activities, raising awareness about issues of social justice and sharing the good news that God loves all people.
