Biography
Reverend Dr. Carol A. Trissell
Educational Background Rev. Carol Trissell received her undergraduate education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1988 she received her Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. On June 6, 2004, she was completed the Doctor of Ministry degree from Florida Center for Theological Studies.
UFMCC History Rev. Trissell joined Joy MCC in Orlando, Florida in 1995 as Assistant to the Pastor. She was ordained through UFMCC in 1997, became associate pastor, and then senior pastor at Joy MCC in 1998. During her tenure there the church has grown substantially. Membership grew from less than 400 to over 600. Rev. Carol became a supervising clergy for UFMCC in 2000. In October 2003, Rev. Carol accepted the call to Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis. She officially began as Senior Pastor on Nov. 30, 2003. In June 2009, MCCGSL, moved into a newly renovated 22,000 square foot sanctuary and office building. MCCGSL has grown from approximately 250 members to over 400 members during her tenure.
Previous Work Experience Prior to joining Joy MCC, Rev. Trissell managed Baptist Book Stores in North Carolina for two years, and previously had worked at other Baptist Book Stores as Assistant Manager and Financial Secretary. She has also held positions at other businesses as Vice President of Accounting, unit leader and site director for the YMCA, and office manager for five years. Also, she was licensed as a certified public accountant in 1984.
Personal Information Rev. Carol is single and is co-parenting her 13 year old son Nathaniel with her former partner, Bonnie Thompson. She lives with her 17 year old cat Scarlett and 9 week old Australian Shepherd puppy, Gus. She loves being around people, and enjoys nature, contemporary Christian music, movies, sports, and walking.

Worship Style:
At Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis there are three services with different worship styles. Her preaching style is biblically-based, relevant to daily life, extemporaneous (no notes), personal, challenging, open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and interjected with humor. She likes and has led both formal and informal worship services.
Scriptural basis:
Luke 4:18- the passage where Jesus is in the synagogue in his home town, and says, “the spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to…preach the good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom to the captives and that the blind will see, to release the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of God’s good favor.”
Her passion:
“Seeing people grow, watching people change and be transformed by the love of Christ- to be a part of that is a privilege, it is inspiring to me.”
